A.Lakota student oboe reed are designed to be slightly less resistant than the professional reeds. To keep the reed from being too resistant I take a little more cane from the heart and leave the back slightly thicker to compensate for pitch. The result leaves a fine working reed but not quite as refined as other oboe reeds I make.
The student oboe reeds are tied onto oboe staples with synthetic cork for easier insertion and removal from the oboe.
A.Lakota student oboe reeds are a great playing alternative to other student reeds on the market. These student oboe reeds have been designed with my own students in mind after years of trial and error. These are the best oboe reeds for those players in their first few years on the instrument.
Soft student oboe reeds work best with students in their first 1-3  years of playing. Medium Student oboe reeds are good for students in with 2-6 years of playing experience. Some more advanced oboist also like these student oboe reeds for their consistency and value.
The SOAKED oboe reed may benefit from being squeezed shut for 30-45 seconds for the first few playing sessions
